Seasonally short and in common with other centres little or no improvement in demand. Graham Beck on behalf of W Beck & Son’s final yard consignment goes out on a high with his Limousin cross steers selling to 148p. Jim and Nick Geering not far behind with homebred Limousin cross steers at 147.5p. Best of the heifers to Brian Foster’s medium weight Limousin cross at 137p - all better bred Continental cross still change hands at 140p plus, but really deserve more.

Just not enough of them Pete Parkes loyal supporter reaps the rewards, heavyweight Friesian Holsteins 98p, 96p, 95p per kilo. Top bid goes to David Kemp’s lean Blonde cross cow at 116p and grosses £864 plus - demand is good and cull cows and overage beef is still very much the order of the day.

Good to see good numbers forward - a proper entry for the end of May of nearly 50 calves and the excellent interest experienced over the last few months continues unabated. Top call of the morning to Mrs MEH Pile and Sons’ British Blue-x £270, £260, £240, etc. Reared Simmental-x heifers £245 and Hereford x Friesian £200. Younger calves - Blonde-x bull £200, Aberdeen Angus-x bulls £200, £198, £190, etc., Limousin-x bull £170 and heifer £177. Sussex cross to £187, all in all another good trade.

Brighter demand on the pig front and keen interest for all the lots on offer. Heavyweight cutters to 101p and gross £111 plus, medium weights to 83p per kilo , heavy coloured entire porkers 79p per kilo. Forward Saddleback stores selling well to £39.50 and £34 per head
