steer 174p. Lightweight butchers heifer from Julian Mockford 164p, looking very well sold - the good customer base needs more cattle at Hailsham please, why not join us.

Only three - Angus cross steer approaching three years 118.5p. Two cull cows - Shorthorn 76p and lean Friesian Holstein 66p.

CALVES (23) Auctioneer: Roger Waters
Black and whites and white and black bulls dominate the entry. Beef cross calves very much wanted. Belgian Blue cross bull to £222, Friesian Holstein bulls to £19 and all prices from £5 - £19.

PIGS (35)
A good show of finished pigs, weaners and cull sows. Heavy cutter gilts to 118p per kilo and £109 per head, lighter cutters £1 per kilo. Cull sows all selling well £103 per head and boars £67. Saddleback weaners look good value at £13 each.

SHEEP (672) - Auctioneer: Nick Young Start 11.15 promptHOGGETS (391) Overall average 167.41p per kg.
Predictably the snow and ice resulted in a shorter entry than we would have hoped. Nonetheless trade was a rip roarer, as one buyer flew out another flew in and Nick Young fell off his perch!! Many thanks to the “Laird of Rickney” for assisting the old boy to his feet!!
