Mrs Carmel Allan's Champion steer, a Blonde x Welsh Black, weighing in at 655 kg. and selling for 155p - £1,015.25

J & S Harmer, Sussex breeders and supporters, take the FABBL award and three silver cups with their First Prize Sussex heifer, 540 kg. at 175p, bred in Sussex, fed in Sussex, sold in Sussex on its legs and in its carcass - this heifer has no carbon foot prints.

Well done Paul Driscoll of Sovereign Meats who has shops in Hailsham and Eastbourne for taking the Champion at 265p and others at 175p, 145p & 117p. Buying locally to be sold locally and all mostly native bred cattle

This year's Charity the Demelza Childrens Hospice - thank you to Guy Grimston and all those who generously supported the money raising activities, so far raised £865 plus more to come.
Guess the weight - total weight of the three bullocks - 1490 kg.

Show cattle and commercial cattle all sold through the ring and will be next week onwards. 58 Show cattle entered and majority of them sold, 29 non-show cattle, OTM beef and cull cows. Non FABBL Angus steers 104p, 103p, others 98.5p, 98p, 98p, etc. Lean OTM steer 73p, Sussex cull cow 59p, Plain cows to feed on 37p, 36.5p, etc.

Store lambs bear no relation to the finished price and except for the really bad bred sorts it could be argued that the trade is better than tolerable. Cutter and baconer weight pigs plenty of inquiry, selling well, lightweight porkers not so fast 127 kg. - 2.10p, 105 kg. - 145p, 120 kg. - 135p, 123 kg. - 105p, nothing wrong with that. Cull sows difficult - Owen Harris’ heavyweight £120, others £70 and £67. Champion pen from CG & AA Brooker a price to be proud of £2.55 per kilo.
