Still very much on a high, not the outstanding cattle of last week, nevertheless three steer gross over £1,000. Brian Foster’s homebred Limousin leads both steer and heifer returns 146p and 138p respectively and near neighbour Ben Bayne has 3 Limousin x Friesian steers to average nearly £1,020 each. John and Mary Jones have another thousand pounder this week! The trade for the well finished native bred heifers holds very very firm with Julian Mockford’s Sussex cross at 136p.

Stand on trade - plain or over fat all classifications are very much wanted. No first grade Continental cross cows on offer. Belgian Blue cross heifers once calved 112.5p, Lean Charolais cows to 105p, second quality Blonde cross 97.5p, Fat Sussex 102p, twice. Best of the black and whites 103p, steakers 89/95p, very plain cows to 64p. Guernsey cows gross £500 plus. Overage beef limited in numbers, but not in value - Simmental cross heifers 114p to 117p per kilo.
