PRIME CATTLE/OTM BEEF & CULL COWS
No alterations in zones but alteration in names of zones! Control zone now protection zone - protection zone now a surveillance zone - just to confuse us even more. Hailsham remains in the protection zone and continue to act as a collection centre for prime beef, cull cows and OTM’s.
Conditions are constantly under review so please keep in touch with your cattle requirements.

CALVES (42) Auctioneer: Roger Waters Sale commences 10.45 a.m
Mostly Angus cross calves on offer, bulls to £132, heifers to £69. Limousin cross heifers £120, Blonde cross bulls £106, Blonde cross heifer £92. Generally all selling well.

LAMBS (523)Overall average 75.2p per kg.
Average back a penny or two, on last week with many heavier lambs making up the good entry. Eblex promotion not lifting prices and sheep producers resigned to taking their medicine - difficult times.

A good selection of cull ewes - heavyweight Suffolks from G W Gribble £37.70, £32, EA Boyes & W New £34, Mules £31, medium weight Southdowns £24, Welsh £10.20. Leaner grazing ewes good interest all in £18 - £24 price range.

STORES (80)
Mixed entry of store lambs - short keep Suffolk cross £27.70, longer term working lambs £23.20, Down cross £20.20. Many buyers interested but the wrong side of the zone - all very frustrating. DJenkins £27.70, £23.50, T Wigmore £27, ML & MP Holgate £24.
