Limousin cross steers and heifers from Brian Foster at 150p, 148p and 147p, etc. John and Mary Jones loyal supporters have a Limousin cross steer to 147p and a Charolais cross heifer from Boyes & New reaches 144p. COWS & OVERAGE BEEF (33) Auctioneer:Roger Waters

Wholesalers and Eblex say they are cheaper - not at Hailsham, encouraging entry including many good fed cows. GA Lawson’s Charolais tops the lot at 120p per kilo, nearly £1,050. First quality Friesians 114p, 109p, etc. Steaking Friesians 97p, Limousin cross 115p, Lean Belgian Blue cross 110p. Heavyweight fat purebred Angus 95.5p, heavyweight second grade Simmental cross 112p, 111p. Continental cross cows bought to graze on at 112p, 110p, 105.5p - a good show of cows with good prices to match. Overage beef - all steers - all Continental cross - all medium weight - all selling well in the 120p/126.5p price range.

Included in next weeks market - 16th June - Aberdeen Angus crossbred bull, under thirty months, suitable to run with heifers.

Calf numbers drying up and price levels easing. Good Continental cross calves still very much wanted. Belgian Blue cross bulls £235, Belgian Blue cross heifers £205, Simmental cross bull £200, Blonde cross bull £177, reared Friesian Holsteins steers, 12 weeks £110.

Next week, 16th June - 5 Hereford cross steers, 4/5 months old by reg. sire, also 15 Friesian Holstein bull calves, 3/4 weeks old

A mix of weights and a mix of colours - all gilts on offer - all sold readily. Baconers 87p per kg, heavy cutters 97p per kg, light cutters 100p per kg and porker weight 94p per kg.
