Good quality suckler bred cattle can command bids of 165/170p, just a few this week, James Wallis’ Angus cross steer and heifer 171p & 168p respectively. Dick Bradford on behalf of St. Georges Retreat has Charolais cross steers at 170p. Richard Stickland has a Blonde x Sussex heifer at 162p. Returns remain consistantly good - beef dairy bred steers and heifers changing hands at 145/155p and Hailsham’s speciality the Sussex - Carola Godman Law’s purebred steer 158p.

CULL COWS & OTM CATTLE (19)
Good crossbred beef cows consistently £1 plus and excellent trade for plain beef cows to feed on. Charolais cross 115p, Belgian Blue cross 114p, Sussex cross 116p,
Mick & Tony Bourner’s meat Limousin cross tops the lot at 120p. Very few holstein Friesians on offer lean sorts to 80p.

For the second week running mostly black and white bulls - reared Friesians to £139, younger sorts - January born £28 per head. Richard Stickland’s Blonde cross bull £162 and heifer £146 - More needed

PIGS (8)
All entire cutter/baconers - well finished crossbred whites and coloureds to 88p per kilo £92.40 per head. Twenty one weaners booked for next weeks sale.

It is with deep regret that we report the sudden death of Peter Page of Holme Farm, Polegate who died on Monday evening. His funeral will take place on Wednesday, 25th February at 2.30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, Hailsham.
Peter was a lifelong supporter of Hailsham Market
and we will all miss him dearly on Market days.
