On the week better demand for the best. Mike Richards has the best 155.5p for a young Angus x Continental steer. Best of the heifers - Mark and John Cornwell’s homebred suckler Limousin cross 155p, finished Limousin cross cattle nearly all in the 140/150p per kilo price range. Liverton Partners’ lead the native returns with a heavyweight Sussex cross steer at 138.5p.

Wholesalers talking the trade back, but no sign of it at Hailsham, most cattle changing hands at £1 per kilo plus. Well fleshed Blonde and Simmental cross cows 112p and 113.5p. George and Mike Martin’s Friesian to 108.5p and £730 per head. Cows to graze on still very much in demand, ready to meet the grass when it comes, Simmental cross 115.5p, 105.5p, etc.

Rich rewards around the calf ring, many more needed to satisfy present demand. Reared Simmental x Friesian heifers £320, Angus cross bulls, 6/7 weeks £285 and heifers £177, Limousin cross bull, 4 weeks £290,Sussex cross bulls, 3 weeks £205 and heifers £145, all in all selling very very well.
