Best of the heifers Derek Southouse’s (back from his travels) Limousin cross 121p. Continental cross suckler bred steers and heifers all changing hands at 115p-129p price range. Beef from the dairy - all prominent. St. Georges Retreat’s Belgian Blue x Friesian steer £850+, John Gormley’s Angus x Friesian steer £750+, Malc McCubbine’s Belgian Blue x Friesian heifers nearly £700.

Overage beef and culls in short supply and like the under thirty month beef trade in top gear - all very good to see. Best of the overage beef to Roger Daltry’s Simmental cross 94p twice. Best of the cows Rupert Taylor’s young Charolais 94p, Red Poll cow 89.5p, no meat cows less than 76.5p, one plain Shorthorn x Friesian 48p.

All guns firing - spirited competition for all breeds. Top call Paul Rossi’s young Belgian Blue cross bull £142 and heifers to £109. Limousin cross heifer to £95. Best of the natives - Sussex cross bull £102 and heifer £79. Good black and white bulls to £15, reared Angus cross bull £157. Already entered for next week - two consignments of twenty Belgian Blue cross and Aberdeen Angus cross bull and heifer calves.
