PRIME CATTLE/OTM BEEF & CULL COWS

Selling cull cows and prime cattle on behalf of regular users of our market system - keep in touch - the NFU continue to lobby Defra to find a way to move stock between Blue tongue area - a vector free season could be one answer. Cull cow prices are easier but prime beef returns stay firm. Looking at ways to return to the auction ring - in discussion with Defra.

CALVES (28) Auctioneer: Roger Waters Sale commences 10.45 a.m

Plenty of variation in quality and breed - RG & JM Thornton’s Belgian Blues shine - bulls £166, heifers £130. AJ Steven’s reared Simmental cross bull £180. Younger Limousin cross bull £100, Simmental cross heifer £96. Reared Friesian Holsteins £40. The best continue to sell very well.

Next week’s calf market includes - 10 Friesian Holstein reared calves,
10/12 weeks old, plus 4 Belgian Blue cross bull and heifers

No better, no worse, holding its own. Good bred medium weight lambs changing hands 77/78p and heavyweights discounted.
