CATTLE (40) Auctioneer: Roger Waters
Larger entry of under 30 month cattle easier on the week, quality Limousin cross heifers offered by Dick Bradford from St. Georges Retreat way out in front at 163p and 160p. Mark & John Cornwell’s Limousin x Friesians head the steers at 147p, they also have homebred Charolais steers at 144p, grossing £1065 - the bigger the better and good to see better numbers. Thank you to all those that supported with cattle entries this week. More cattle needed for next week please.

COWS & OVERAGE BEEF (22) Auctioneer: Roger Waters
Even more competition for cull cows - some buyers leaving empty handed.  Julian Mockford’s crossbred Charolais cow breaks the £1,000 barrier, 895 kg. at 112.5p, although Mark & John Cornwell’s Charolais tops the lot at 120.5p. Brian Foster has Limousin cross cows to 117.5p, nothing wrong with this trade, half the entry £1 per kilo and more. More cows, more weights, more trade! Best of the steaking Holsteins 92p, 91.5p, 88p, etc. Overage beef - competition remains very keen, all selling well again - Native bred steers and heifers 125p, 124, etc.

CALVES (26) Auctioneer: Roger Waters
Not the quality of last week but still the trade. Reared Belgian Blue cross bulls £265, Younger Limousin cross bulls £170, £155 and £150, heifers £135, Small Aberdeen Angus cross bulls £167, £142, Hereford cross bull £125 and heifers £89.

PIGS (14) Auctioneer: Roger Waters
Excellent demand for breeding pigs - it pays to advertise. Young white sows just served £202 and £152. Breeding LW x Duroc boar as advertised a creditable £215. Rare breed cull sows to £122 and 60p per kilo. Cull boars to £65, young crossbred weaners to £32 per head, more needed. Entered for next week twelve white crossbred pigs, mostly gilts 30 - 80 kg. weight range., also one pen of British Lop cross weaners.
