Plenty of sparkle in the trade just not enough, best cattle, best price. Competition keen for the top spot between local breeders & feeders Jones & Kemp. Knight Farms’ steers just front runners at 176p and 168p and Birchington Farms steer no disgrace at 172.5p and heifer 170p. Julian Mockford’s heavyweights returning well - Simmental cross £1,124 at 26 months old. Cattle needed for next week - Keep in touch.

CULL COWS & OTM CATTLE (25)
Better numbers once again selling very well, heavy Continental cross cows up to 116p and grossing over £900 on three occasions. Best of the native Angus cows to 109p and Angus bull 110p. Dairy bred cull lean Holstein steakers 98p, plainer cows to 88.5p and very plain cows to 78.5p.

Only three but what a trade. Belgian Blue cross bull, 5/6 weeks £309 and heifer £260 plus one younger Sussex x Friesian heifer £120!

PIGS (11)

A colourful lot - cutter weight Gloucester Old Spot cross gilts 86p per kilo and pork weight 76p per kilo. Berkshire x Tamworth entires to feed on £37 each. Bringing pigs to Hailsham please let us know.
More colour next week entered so far 12 pork/cutter weight, 8 weaner/light porkers all Oxford Black and Sandy and Saddleback cross plus 3 Saddleback and Crossbred sows.

With other centres returning prices between 150/160p per kilo - Hailsham stood proudly above the rest with our heads held high.
