SHEEP (1077) - Auctioneer: Nick Young Start 11.15 prompt
LAMBS (402) Overall average 129.5p per kilo
Surprisingly the national was back after last week’s rally. Best meated lambs made best prices, undermeated sorts made the store prices. All things considered no major complaints. The faithful were well rewarded.
Leading prices per kg:- SD & JJ Feakes 148p, LM Morgan 144.8p, Burnt Oak Farm 143.9p, CA Lee & Sons 141.5p, 140.3p, 140.2p, 136.4p, 136.1p, DG & CA Hawkins 138.9p, E Gingell 136.4p, H Parks 135.9p,
DS Clark 135.6p, FJ Pope 133.8p, JA Nightingale 133.7p.
Leading prices per head:- SJ & JJ Feakes £70.50, £67.50, £65.50, M & T Bourner’s £68.50, A Wood £68, PG Poole £65.50, £64.50, CA Lee & Sons £64.50, £62, LM Morgan £63, DG & CA Hawkins £62.50,
E Gingell £62.50, FJ Pope £62, Burnt Oak Farm £62.
EWES (225)
The festival is over “but no matter”. Best killing ewes are still a mighty trade and the more enlightened graziers realise that there is profit to be made by buying the best graziers and holding them - providing they have the grass - until trade takes off again. No complaints whatsoever come and see for yourselves.
HG Grissell £63, DG & CA Hawkins £62.50, TE Rea £62.50, R & W Brown £61.50, Kent rams to £105 - Derek Walker.
STORE SHEEP (432)
Undoubtedly trade is a touch easier as the finished national price has weakened. However this is just the opportunity that is needed to “fill up” before the prices takes off. DW Reed £50, £44, LM Morgan £49.50, £45.50, PJ Walker £47.50, CA Powell £46, £45 (twice), D Jenkins £43.50, R Gorringe £43.50.
