Not the quality of last weeks entry with mostly dairy bred beef on offer - little change in trade. Derek Southouse scores double top with his suckler bred steer and heifer at 169p and 165p respectively. Good to report Roger Daltry’s home reared Angus x Friesian heifer at 150.5p.
Remember under finished cattle are discounted accordingly.

Not so plentiful, mostly cull cows - heavyweight Angus first quality to 120p, others 112.5p and 110p. Best of the Continentals - Kenny Simmons’ Limousin cross 124p. Only steaking black and whites to 97p and very plain Holsteins 68p. Rewarding returns at these price levels.

CALVES (8) Auctioneer: Roger Waters
Only eight, all young calves and all selling well. Limousin cross bulls £132, Sussex cross bull £112, Sussex cross heifer £75, Hereford cross heifers £80.

PIGS (--)
No pigs on offer. Eight cull sows and ten good Oxford Black and Sandy porkers already booked for next week.

HOGGETS (436) Overall average 162.4p per kg.
Nationally trade has eased slightly corresponding with the slight increase in the value of the pound against the euro. If anything sheep across the board were dearer. Plenty over £75 and even £80 but good to see Robert Smith to the fore at £101!! A good days trading - the Hailsham faithful were exceptionally well rewarded.
